Welcome to summer! I don’t know about you, but there’s something about June, July and August that just feels different. It’s more than the warm weather and grilling season, though I certainly appreciate both of those.
For those of us in education, summer is a great time for respite and to reset for the coming academic year. And as we wind down a busy and successful fiscal year at the end of June, our SEI team will use its summer to take a breath and get ready for all the great things to come in 2024-25.
Enjoy!

RAD team retreat
Our research and data department had an inspiring first retreat! Our team went hiking at Sand Run, shared a meal at Aladdin’s Highland Square, discussed their future work strategies and painted! We are looking forward to continuing to share their data-driven insights that improve the educational outcomes for Summit County students.
VIP site visits
Exciting news! As part of the City of Akron’s Violence Intervention and Prevention (VIP) Strategic Plan, we have been visiting and evaluating grantee organizations. As of this month, we have completed all 37 site visits! We are now wrapping up stage one of the evaluation process and will be moving into the next stage soon. Stay tuned for updates and share-outs on next steps, findings and more!
